Now that you have DVD organizer software, what the heck do you do with it? You might not be the most computer proficient person, but you’re beginning to realize that those lists of your DVDs are far too easy to lose and much too difficult to update regularly. With DVD organizer software, you can begin to keep track of your movie collection, but the setup doesn’t have to be a nightmare. With just three simple tasks, you can not only use your software efficiently and effectively, but you can also make sure it continues to assist you as your movie collection grows.

Check Your Computer Settings

First things first, you need to install DVD organizer software on your computer, so it’s best to see what your computer can handle. Most computers will have the extra memory available for this sort of program, but if you run a lot of larger programs on your computer system (i.e. games), you might need to add this program to another free laptop or install it on a different drive to ensure it runs well. You can check the memory capacity of your computer on a PC by looking at the disk drive where you want to store the program. Just right-click on the icon, go to Properties, and you will see a little picture that shows you how much memory you have to spare. Checking the software program will also help you to see how much memory it recommends you keep free. Of course, the more memory you have, the better as you can catalog more films.

Installation Basics

Most DVD organizer software programs will setup easily with a download from the Internet, but others might require you to install the program with a CD-ROM. No matter what the case is, most software programs are user-friendly these days, with instructions at every step of the way to show you how to properly install the programs. Just follow the instructions and the program should be all set for you to use. It’s best if you stop any other running programs on your computer first, unless you’re downloading the software from the Internet, of course.

Backing Up Your Catalog

But just because you’ve listed all of your DVDs in the organizer software doesn’t mean that this is the end of the task. You should also make sure there is a way to backup the information you have contained in these files. Often, computers will automatically backup the content of their drives, but if yours does not, you will want to make sure to save the information from the program on a CD or a flash drive on a weekly basis.

DVD organizer software will help you keep track of your DVDs in a simple and user-friendly way. But it never hurts to try out a few software programs to see which one works best for you and for your computer. After all, if you can’t figure it out, you won’t use it.
