I recently bought a Moultrie Game Spy Camera for use on a trail that I wanted to scope out for deer. All in all I found that it was a really good deal; for the amount that I paid for the camera it has loads of features and it is easy to use which was really nice for me. The quality and the resolution of the pictures are very good, and I really liked the laser guide that helped me to shoot exactly what I was aiming for. Photos of animals walking away or that are already partly out of the shot aren?t nearly as interesting or useful and getting the right angle is important. The Moultrie Game Spy also has a very quick trigger speed as field cameras go. It captures an image about one second after the animal triggers the sensor which means a much better success rate for photo taking.
How to View the Pictures You Have Taken
One thing that the Moultrie Camera does not have is a display screen on the camera to view the photos on it. When I first got the camera I didn?t even think about it, I just went back home and downloaded the photos into the computer to take a look at it. I went out with a buddy of mine and he showed me a brilliant little trick that I had not considered before. I was taking the camera down from the tree and I mentioned that I couldn?t wait to see them. He asked me to let him see the camera so I passed it to him. He pulled out his regular camera, which was a Sony Cybershot. It is one of the newer ones, set him back quite a few bucks, but it has a nice big screen on the back of it. He took the SC card out of the Moultrie Camera, switched it for the one in his Sony and we could view the photos right there!
Oddly enough I don?t have a regular camera of my own. My wife sometimes gives me the business because she has a Samsung camera and she says that she takes pictures of the family and I take pictures of my forest family. I am guilty as charged, but I would have to admit that I wasn?t really into photography until I got the field camera. Now it fascinates me, mostly because of the excitement I get when I go and get the camera. I now bring along my wife?s Samsung on my trip so that I can see the images right away. I have even figured out how to delete them on her camera and put the SD card back in the Moultrie so that I can leave it out there.
I have heard that this does not work on all cameras, but if you want to know just take a few shots with your regular camera and view the folder on your computer. If the folder has a name with DCIM in it that means that you will be able to view the images from the Moultrie on it. Almost all new digital cameras will be able to work as a viewer. If you have the Moultrie already, you can take the SD card shopping with you and try it in different cameras to see if you can view the pictures. For a fairly reasonable cash outlay you can get a good regular camera and a Moultrie Game Spy and get hours of enjoyment out of them.
