Sony Ericsson is known the world over for their amazingly functional and stylish mobile phones. It is easy to see why when you take a look at some of the handsets that they have produced over the years and one of their latest additions to the Walkman range can be added to that illustrious list. The Sony Ericsson W705 has won over thousands of new fans in recent months on account of its attractive exterior and outstanding internal features. However, should you believe all of the reviews out there or are they all hype? This review will give you the answers you are looking for.
Stylish In Design
The design of the Sony Ericsson W705 is the first element that many potential users notice and if ever there was a handset to attract people at a first glance then the Sony Ericsson W705 is it. Its stylish casing is finished in brushed aluminium with a subtle gold trim framing it. If this was not classy enough, it is also highly functional as a result of the rubber casing around the battery to make it easier to hold.
The handset itself is dominated by the 2.4 inch QVGA display, which gives a bright and clear picture. In fact, it is perfect for the multimedia element of the handset that obviously dominates the features list, it being a Walkman phone.
Jaw Dropping Features
The Sony Ericsson W705 is a HSPA 3G phone and so is packed full of connectivity and user options. For example, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB all packed into the handset, in addition to the 3G options available. It also supports Google Maps, YouTube and the BBC iPlayer so you can really make the most of your options. As if to emphasize this, there is a 4GB memory stick supplied as well.
However, it is the Sony Ericsson W705?s amazing Walkman features that make it worth every single penny. The features can be accessed quickly and easily via the menus and dedicated buttons. The sound quality is as good as any other Sony Ericsson handset, if not better. However, it is the extras that give this model the edge over the competition. There is Shake Control that allows you to skip, rewind and fast forward tracks at will. With 120MB of inbuilt memory, you can access tracks via direct download or via the USB connection.
The only element of the Sony Ericsson W705 that lets it down is the camera. At 3.2MP, it should be a decent camera but just produces images that are OK. This is largely down to the fixed focus lens, which of course produces images that are average to say the least. However, this can be forgiven because it is not a CyberShot phone. However, given this only niggle, the Sony Ericsson W705 should seriously be considered as your next phone. With that one exception, it exceeds expectations in all ways and is undoubtedly at the forefront of the Sony Ericsson range now.
